I am in awe of the striking composition of this Maine scene. The division of space into three  unequal shapes, sky, island, sea with interesting linear aspects, two angled contrails contrasted with repetitive straights on the horizon. The display of intense light of the setting sun is the soul of the painting and center of interest.

I rarely paint from photographs, but was so taken by this one that I contacted the professional photographer who graciously  gave me permission to paint an interpretation in oil. My title for the painting is Shared Moment in honor of Peter Ralston’s generosity and also my desire to share the beauty of the scene with my viewers
