Greetings friends and family and art lovers everywhere
I have the honor of being selected “featured artist” for the month of May, in an online international magazine, Sanctuary. Each month the executive editor, Myrna Beth Haskell, chooses a woman from various fields of the humanities whose work she wishes to highlight. This month my work as a bronze sculptor is her focus. The article is entitled The Intricacies of Sculpture in Motion. Nine of my bronzes are pictured throughout my interview. It is a pleasure to have been selected for this extensive feature and I hope you will enjoy both reading about my process and viewing my work.

Spring and summer are busy seasons for exhibiting art. I have just hung my jazz oil In the Swing at The Coffee Bar at the four corners in Bennington, Vermont.
Additionally, I will be exhibiting two bronzes and an oil painting, all with a musical theme, at the Southern Vermont Arts Center, Manchester, Vt, May 13 - July 16. My bronze antique hunting horn, Heralding the Hunt, and my conductor, Maestro will be placed in front of my oil, From the Balcony, which depicts the interior of the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City.
I will be taking my bronze moose, Rutting Regalia, to Landmark Gallery, Kennebunkport, Maine for the season later this month.
Meanwhile, looking forward to summer, I will be teaching a sculpture workshop at the Southern Vermont Arts Center, Manchester, Vt. July 11 -14. Registration is now open under Workshops on the website. Beginners as well as more advanced students are always welcome, so come and join us!
Enjoy spring wherever you may be,
Best wishes,
Elaine
Comments, suggestions always welcome
I so enjoyed reading your interview in Sanctuary! It was a lovely overview of your very impressive and diverse sculpture career to date. Congratulations!
It’s also wonderful to know where and how your art will be exhibited this summer; I’m looking forward to seeing some of it 🙂
You have always been so supportive of my work, Evie. Thank you! My interview with Sanctuary magazine came as a wonderful surprise after the editor saw one of my sculptures at an exhibition and contacted me. There is ways joy in the creative process, and that is what is important to me. It also brings me joy when others are moved by what I create. Thank you for your remarks,
Bravo Elaine. Congratulations on being featured in Sanctuary! Wonderful interview and so good to be able to view your beautiful sculptural works of art.
Hoping to visit your work in Kennebunkport Maine this summer. I also enjoyed reviewing the many incredible steps involved in creating these sculptures. Amazing that you have continued this art form both by creating works yourself and by passing on the tradition by instructing others. Have a good summer.
Love,
Kathy Grady
Hi Kathy,
It is wonderful to hear from you. Thank you for your kind remarks after reading my recent newsletter. I am so lucky to have been chosen for this interview and was delighted that the editor used so many sculpture pictures. I look forward to teaching each summer and am going to a reception next weekend to see two of my students’ work on exhibit. I am so proud of them. Thank you for staying in touch, dear friend.
Congratulations on your continued and expanding success! Such lovely pieces and features. Love to see these updates!
