The Emperor’s Horses
$500.00
from The Emperor’s Dreams series of three drawings
The Emperor’s Horses is one of a set of three horse drawings painted with black ink on
Asian mulberry paper which I mount on watercolor paper. I am challenged and inspired by combining my love of rendering horses and their illusion of movement with Asian drawing techniques and supplies. I express motion using minimal brush strokes with an Asian brush made of wolf and sheep hair, which hold lots of ink. Various thicknesses of line are achieved by changing the pressure of the brush held in an almost vertical position. The interesting texture of the mulberry paper holds its own in the artistic interpretation of the important negative space.
