As a sailor, myself, I have always been thrilled by the occasional siting of “red ” sails along the seacoast. This was my view of the beautiful Kennebunkport, Maine seacoast at sunset with a lone Cape Cod daysailer with tanbark sails. The complementary color scheme was inspired by the natural dye, tannins, used for the sails. Tannin, extracted from the bark of oak trees, provides a reddish- brown orange color and protects the sails from the elements.

Tanbark Sail  is currently on exhibition until Dec 30, 2020, accepted into  The National Association of Women Artists, NY.N.Y. 131st annual exhibition.
