The Morgan can be traced back to a single Vermont stallion who didn’t even have a name. Therefore, he was called after his owner, Justin Morgan. This breed is also the state animal of Vermont.

The model for this horse is a handsome strong dark bay Morgan who lives at Trumbull Hill Farm in Shaftsbury, about a mile from my studio. In addition, he is a riding stallion with a history of being a working cowpony in Wyoming.

Vermont Morgan was included in the Special Merit section in the 3D category in the international online exhibition “Animals” Art Exhibition 2021. The honor is especially notable as there were 895 entries from 29 countries and 35 states.
